Location and staff very nice. Clean rooms but not up to date.
Old rooms and furniture. Carpets were old and worn.
Fantastic location, right next to a big park, great swimming pool, parking onsite.
Hotel staff start cleaning at like 6am, when your on holiday last thing you want is to be woken by a vacum at that time in the morning.
The Astoria is a lovely hotel in a perfect location in Montecatini. It has an unusual graceful charm all of its own. We were shown two rooms and given the choice of either. They were both completely different styles and we preferred the room with a balcony looking out over tall trees in the park. Every morning the gentle sound of music drifted through to our room from the park and made for a wonderful awakening. We ate twice at the hotel for an evening meal and enjoyed the food. The hotel was quiet at the end of September but there was never a problem getting a drink from the bar or food and drink at the pool. The pool was good and the bubbleness corner was amazing, we spent a lot of time in there ! Staff were helpful and friendly at all times. I did a lot of research before booking the Astoria and am happy that I made an excellent choice.
Very central locaion and most helpful staff at reception. Very nice pool area and lovely breakfast
The bedrooms need upgrading to bring them in line with the general public areas
The discreet charm of the hotel.
Hotel restaurant menu was over priced.
The staff were extremely helpful and pleasent. One particular staff member, whose name I'm unsure of, went above and beyond to help us with travel arrangements for which we were truely greatful. The hotel, itself, had an oldworld charm without the rooms themselves being too dated (I.e. relatively new bathroom). The pool and spa facilities were also very good.
It was apparent that this hotel would have once been excellent; a true 4-stars. Unfortunately, at present, it is a little tired and in desperate need of renovations. We ate at the restaurant on one occasion and it was ok, nothing special, but was reasonably priced so we didn't mind too much. These factors aside we still had a lovely time, and if ever in the area again would not hesitate to choose the Astoria.
